WARNING: BEFORE USING THIS HANDGUN, READ, AND FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS.

If there is anything you do not understand about this handgun or firearms in general, get help from someone qualified in the safe handling of firearms and auto-loading pistols in particular. This instruction manual applies only to Infinity model pistols and it should always accompany this pistol. When you lend, give or sell this firearm, be sure this manual goes with it.

CAUTION:
 The higher level of preparedness required of law enforcement, military and competition personnel may override several of the following safety instructions. To provide safety while operating at a higher level of preparedness, proper initial practical pistol oriented training and a reasonable amount of periodic training, which stresses safe practical pistol procedures is necessary to operate this pistol at the higher level of preparedness required by law enforcement, military and competition authorities. CAUTION:
 ALWAYS KEEP AND CARRY YOUR PISTOL EMPTY, WITH THE HAMMER FORWARD EXCEPT WHEN YOU INTEND TO SHOOT, so that your pistol cannot be fired when you do not mean to fire it.
CAUTION:
 USE ONLY CLEAN, DRY, ORIGINAL, HIGH QUALITY, COMMERCIALLY MANUFACTURED AMMUNITION IN GOOD CONDITION, which is appropriate to the caliber of your pistol. Firearms and ammunition manufacturers design their products within exacting engineering safety limits. Handloads and remanufactured ammunition are sometimes outside those limits and can be so unsafe as to blow up the chamber, slide and receiver and cause injury, death, or damage to property.

INFINITY DIAGRAM

Please refer to this diagram while reading the Disassembly for Cleaning and Assembling The Pistol sections of this manual.

IMPORTANT: Before your Infinity pistol left the factory it was tested, carefully inspected and packaged with a safety magazine and empty chamber indicator placed in the pistol. Strayer-Voigt Inc. (SVI) cannot control product handling after it leaves the factory; therefore please examine your Infinity pistol carefully at the time of the purchase to insure that it is unloaded and undamaged. Your SVI dealer will be pleased to assist you in making this examination and endeavor to answer your further questions. This instruction manual should always accompany this firearm. When you lend, give or sell this firearm, be sure this manual goes with it.  THIS INFINITY MODEL PISTOL CAN BE FIRED WHEN THE MAGAZINE IS REMOVED, IF A CARTRIDGE IS IN THE CHAMBER AND THE TRIGGER IS PULLED. THIS INFINITY MODEL PISTOL WAS SHIPPED FROM THE FACTORY WITH AN EMPTY CHAMBER SAFETY PLUG AND A SAFETY MAGAZINE INSERTED IN THE PISTOL. HOWEVER, LIKE ANY FIREARM, ALWAYS TREAT YOUR INFINITY PISTOL AS LOADED AND READY TO FIRE AT ALL TIMES. WHEN REMOVING THE SAFETY MAGAZINE AND THE EMPTY CHAMBER SAFETY PLUG, VISUALLY CHECK THE CHAMBER TO MAKE SURE IT IS EMPTY. READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS AND WARNINGS CAREFULLY; BE SURE THAT YOU UNDERSTAND THESE INSTRUCTIONS AND WARNINGS BEFORE USING THIS FIREARM.

Strayer-Voigt will not honor claims involving this firearm which result from careless or improper handling, unauthorized adjustment or parts replacement, corrosion, neglect, or the use of wrong caliber ammunition, or use of ammunition other than original high quality commercially manufactured ammunition in good condition, or any combination thereof. BASIC RULES OF FIREARMS SAFETY

ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Never forget that a gun has the potential to produce serious injury or death in a single instant of carelessness. DO NOT take anyone's word that a gun is unloaded - always check for yourself and continue to handle the unloaded gun as though it were loaded. Make safe gun handling a habit to be followed at all times so that you never fire it accidentally when you thought it was unloaded. Always handle all firearms as if they were loaded.

ALWAYS KEEP THE GUN POINTED IN A SAFE DIRECTION

Never let the muzzle of your gun cover anything that you are not willing to destroy. This is particularly important when loading, unloading or field stripping your gun. In selecting a safe direction, you must also take into consideration that a bullet can ricochet or glance off of any object it strikes, and that bullets can penetrate walls, ceilings, floors and windows.

KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET AND YOU ARE READY TO SHOOT

Your pistol cannot fire unless the trigger is pulled, by keeping your finger completely outside the trigger guard until your sights are aligned on a safe target you are making sure that any shots you fire will go in the direction of your intended target.

BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET

Always be sure of your target and know what is in front of it and what is behind it. A bullet can travel as far as several miles, so always be sure of where your bullet will strike and shoot only where there is a safe backstop free of obstructions, water or other surfaces which can cause ricochets. Never fire at a movement, a noise, a flash of color, or a rustling bush without positively identifying your intended target.

LEARN HOW TO SAFELY USE YOUR FIREARM

No person should handle any firearm without first becoming familiar with how to operate it safely. Read this manual thoroughly until you understand how to operate the pistol safely. If you still have questions on the safe operation of this pistol call toll-free 1-800-928-1911.

NEVER STORE YOUR GUN IN A LOADED CONDITION.

KEEP THIS GUN AND ALL FIREARMS AWAY FROM CHILDREN AND UNTRAINED ADULTS

Always secure your firearms from children and unauthorized persons. Always store your unloaded firearm and ammunition separately and in a secure place inaccessible to children.

USE ONLY THE CORRECT AMMUNITION FOR YOUR FIREARM

Never use a cartridge not specifically designated for use in your pistol. The correct caliber designation is stamped on the top of the barrel hood of your Infinity pistol.

MAKE SURE THERE ARE NO OBSTRUCTIONS IN THE BARREL

Before firing your Infinity pistol, you should routinely make sure that your firearm is in good working order and that the barrel is clear of dirt and obstructions. Any obstruction that prevents the bullet from moving easily down the barrel can cause pressure to build up in the gun. A small bit of mud, gun grease, excess lubricating oil, or rust can cause pressure to build up to the point where the barrel bulges or bursts upon firing, resulting in a damaged gun and serious bodily injury to the shooter or those persons around the shooter.

WEAR QUALITY EYE AND EAR PROTECTION WHEN SHOOTING OR OBSERVING

Exposure to the noise of gunfire can permanently damage your hearing if protection is not worn. Shooting glasses, preferably with side panels, help to guard against eye injuries from ejected cases and the splashback of fragments or debris from the target's backstop. Wearing eye protection when disassembling and cleaning your gun will also prevent eye injuries from loosened springs or other parts as well as from aerosol solvents and cleaning agents.

NEVER USE FIREARMS WHILE UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL OR DRUGS

Handling and using a firearm requires your full and continuous attention, alertness and unimpaired judgment. Avoid handling firearms while taking prescription medicines which can make you drowsy, slow your reflexes, and impair your normal senses or judgment.

ALWAYS TRANSPORT YOUR FIREARM IN A SAFE, UNLOADED CONDITION AND IN ACCORDANCE WITH APPLICABLE LAWS

The transportation of firearms is regulated by Federal, State and local laws. Know the laws in your area and comply with them.

REMEMBER

No Set of rules can cover all possible situations. The safe and rational use of a firearm depends on the common sense and proper training of the user. Be a responsible and safe gun owner. Always follow safety rules and THINK before using any firearm. Firearms SAFETY depends on you!

SVI HANDGUN SAFETY FEATURES

TRIGGER GUARD

The Trigger Guard is the loop around the trigger to protect it from damage and to help prevent accidental discharge.

SLIDE LOCK SAFETY

The Slide Lock Safety is located on the left rear of the pistol just below the slide. With hammer fully cocked and Slide Lock Safety applied, upper part of Slide Lock Safety engages slide lock notch to prevent rearward movement of slide, while an internal cam surface engages the sear to prevent forward hammer movement when trigger is squeezed. This safety device can be applied only when the slide is fully forward and hammer is fully cocked.

To apply Slide Lock Safety, point pistol in safe direction, keeping fingers outside trigger guard, pull slide fully to rear and allow it to return sharply forward, leaving hammer in fully cocked position. Press up on Slide Lock Safety until it fully engages slide lock notch. When the Slide Lock Safety is down, the sear is free to release the hammer to fire the pistol when it is properly gripped and the trigger is squeezed. (See Figures A and B)

GRIP SAFETY

The Grip Safety is located on the upper rear part of the receiver. The Grip Safety is automatically applied by spring action to prevent rearward travel of trigger unless pistol grip is firmly and properly grasped. The front of the Grip Safety (inside the pistol frame) contacts rear of trigger to prevent its rear ward movement. When the pistol grip is positively grasped, the Grip Safety is rotated out of contact with rear of trigger to allow trigger movement.

SAFETY STOP ON HAMMER

The Safety Stop is a flat, shelf-like surface on the hammer which functions as an automatic safety device. It will engage the sear in the unlikely event of primary sear notch failure. This will prevent the hammer from falling fully forward unintentionally and will insure against uncontrolled automatic fire. It also prevents the hammer from striking the firing pin should your hand slip from the slide or hammer while cocking the pistol, provided the hammer is rotated past the Safety Stop. It is located such that when the sear engages the Safety Stop, the sear can be disengaged by squeezing the trigger to allow the hammer to fall forward. By design, the hammer will fall forward off the Safety Stop when the trigger is pulled. The Safety Stop is not a manual safety and should not be engaged by hand.

DISCONNECTOR

This safety device prevents a round being fired before it is in the chamber with slide and barrel locked. When slide is not fully forward the Disconnector is depressed. Its lower part disengages the sear, so that the hammer cannot be released if the trigger is squeezed. However, when slide and barrel are locked, a spring pushes the Disconnector up into a recess in the slide; this links trigger and sear so that the pistol can be fired by squeezing the trigger.

INERTIA FIRING PIN

The Firing Pin, which is shorter than its housing, is held to the rear by a spring and cannot protrude through face of slide unless a hammer blow overcomes the spring force and the inertia of the pin. Strayer-Voigt pistols are designed to function with factory manufactured ammunition in the appropriate caliber. Strayer-Voigt recommends that you shoot factory ammunition in your pistol to ensure reliability and accuracy. Use of +P ammunition may accelerate wear of the pistol.

BLUE SAFETY MAGAZINE

Empty Chamber Safety Plug and Safety Magazine. An empty chamber safety plug and inert safety magazine come installed in your new Infinity pistol from the factory. If they are not in your Infinity Pistol when you receive it examine this firearm carefully at the time of purchase to insure that it is unloaded and undamaged. Your SVI dealer will be pleased to assist you in making this examination and will help you to obtain an empty chamber safety plug and safety magazine for your new Infinity pistol as well as to explain their use and function.

Strayer-Voigt Inc. recommends that anytime you store your Infinity pistol that you carefully unload it with the muzzle pointing in a safe direction and insert the empty chamber safety plug and safety magazine in the pistol. Remember, even though the empty chamber safety plug and safety magazine are inserted in the pistol, always treat your Infinity pistol as if it were loaded. Only you can insure safe handling of your firearm!

LOADING THE MAGAZINE

  1. Use only ammunition recommended in this instruction manual as suitable for your pistol. Examine the ammunition, particularly on and around the primer. Look for dents, scratches, and other signs of damage. Do not load damaged ammunition.
  2. With open end uppermost, grasp magazine in one hand. Place a round on magazine follower with base just forward of retaining lips. Press round down and back until base of round touches rear flat edge of magazine. Place next round on top of previous round and press down and back. Repeat until magazine is loaded, but do NOT exceed its capacity. The capacity of all U.S. Domestic magazines manufactured after 9/14/94 for the Infinity pistol is ten (10) rounds as proscribed by federal law.
CAUTION:
 TO MINIMIZE THE RISK OF UNINTENTIONAL DISCHARGE, LOAD LIVE AMMUNITION INTO PISTOL ONLY WHEN YOU ARE ABOUT TO SHOOT.

LOADING THE PISTOL

Remove the safety magazine from the pistol. Place your hand under the safety magazine to prevent it from falling.

  1. Remove magazine from pistol. Place your hand under magazine to prevent it from falling. Press magazine catch (located on left of pistol behind trigger guard) to drop the magazine out of the magazine well.
  2. Hold pistol by stock with one hand. Keep other hand clear of ejection port and grasp serrated finger grips on both sides of slide. Pull slide back slightly and LOOK IN CHAMBER TO ENSURE IT IS EMPTY; allow slide to return forward. (If slide was fully to rear, release cocked hammer by squeezing trigger after ensuring chamber is empty.)
  3. Insert loaded magazine into magazine well with bullets pointing forward. Push magazine UPWARD fully, until magazine catch is heard to click, locking it in place.
  4. When you are ready to shoot, grip the slide with the muzzle of the pistol pointed in a safe direction making sure all fingers are outside of the trigger guard, grip the slide as described in Step 3 and pull it fully rearward to cock the hammer. Release slide to feed a round from the magazine into the chamber.
  5. Apply slide lock safety by pushing it up to prevent the hammer falling forward if the trigger is moved.

UNLOADING THE PISTOL

  1. Place hand under magazine to prevent it from falling and press magazine catch to release and eject magazine.
  2. With the muzzle of the pistol pointed in a safe direction making sure all fingers are outside of the trigger guard, using the serrated finger grips, pull the slide sharply rearward to extract and eject a round from the chamber. Keep your hands clear of the ejection port to allow round to eject without obstruction.
  3. Keeping the pistol pointed in a safe direction, allow the slide to return forward on an empty chamber and press the trigger to allow the hammer to fall forward. (If slide is held to rear by the slide stop, pull slide back slightly, then release it.)
  4. Remove remaining live rounds by sliding them forward out of the magazine.

DISASSEMBLY FOR CLEANING Please refer to the diagram in this manual

WARNING:
 Safety glasses must be worn during disassembly and assembly by the user and all bystanders.

  1. Remove the magazine and unload the pistol.
  2. Pull back the slide and push the slide stop up into the slide stop notch on the slide, locking the slide back.
  3. Insert the guide rod take down tool into the guide rod hole as seen in Figure C.
  4. Release the slide by pushing the slide stop down, push the slide forward till the slide stop lines up with the disassembly notch.
  5. Push out the slide stop, completely removing it from the pistol.

Further disassembly must be take with extreme caution. The spring or assembled parts could fly out and injure or even blind someone if they are not handled with care.
  1. Push forward on the slide and remove it from the frame.
  2. The barrel, the guide rod assembly (Figure D) can now be taken out of the slide for proper cleaning. Note: The barrel link must be rotated down to allow free passage through the slide.
  3. Do not attempt to remove any other items from the pistol as this may void the warranty.

ASSEMBLING THE PISTOL

WARNING:
 Safety glasses must be worn during disassembly and assembly by the user and all bystanders.
  1. Place the slide upside down and insert the barrel into the slide with the barrel link forward.
  2. Re-install the guide rod assembly with the disassembly pin inserted.
  3. Cock the hammer on the frame and place the safety in the off or fire position.
  4. Line up the slide with the frame, and push the slide onto the rails of the frame, look through slide stop hole until you see the barrel link line up with the hole in the receiver.
  5. Reinstall the slide stop pushing it through the hole and the barrel link.
  6. Continue to push on the slide until the disassembly notch lines up with the rear of the slide stop.
  7. Push the slide stop up and into the disassembly notch until it is completely recessed in its original position.
  8. Pull back on the slide and release the take down pin from the guide rod assembly.

PISTOL WARRANTY,

Based on Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, Strayer-Voigt offers no express warranty on its product line. However, Strayer-Voigt recognizes its obligations concerning implied warranty. Strayer-Voigt also stands behind its product as it has historically, and will continue to provide service to its product line as it has over the years. Strayer-Voigt products will be serviced for a period of one year from date of retail purchase in materials and workmanship.

Transportation to and from our repair facilities, damage caused by failure to perform normal maintenance, sales outside the United States, damage due to use of high velocity, high pressure, reloaded or other nonstandard ammuntion, or any unauthorized repair, modification, misuse, abuse, or alteration of the product is not covered.
